Water temperatures range from lukewarm to slightly hotter, although there is no hot-water pool, and most are generally warmer in the morning. Although some hot springs have the word “natural” in their names, don’t expect a natural environment, because everything here consists of tile pools.

Tips on Climbing Mount Batur

1. The Best Time To Trek

The best time to climb is in the dry season. Because when climbing in the rainy season, the track will be very slippery and steep. But we also do in raining season. In general, climbers start climbing at 3:00. This was done so as not to miss the sunrise above the peak.

2. Prepare Your Physics, At Least A Week Before Climbing Date

Physical preparation before climbing a mountain is important, because the track on Mount Batur is quite draining and the weather can reduce your immunity, so that some altitude sickness can interfere with your adventure if you are not physically fit.

3. Mountain Climbing Equipment

Pay attention to the climbing equipment you bring, adjust to the rocky and sandy track typical of Volcano. We recommend using a capable mountain shoe, field clothes that are all-round and wear gaiters.

4. Climbing Guide

It is important for you who feel a novice climber, you should use the services of a guide or be in the right group or private, at least one person has climbed on Mount Batur. This is to minimize the risk of getting lost or other undesirable things.

5. Mental Questions

After physical, equipment and climbing friends. Next is the mental problem. How you see the hiking trail is easy or easy depending mentally. Many climbers who are mentally strong are able to reach the top of Jayawijaya and many climbers whose mentality is not strong cannot reach the top of Volcano.

6. Safety first

In every climb, the summit is just a bonus, while the main goal is to go home safely. Therefore, if conditions are not possible, such as friends who are sick or in bad weather, you should not force the will to get to the top, anyway the peak will not run anywhere.

My hike up Mt Batur this morning an incredible experience I will never forget. The comfortable feeling my guide, Putu gave me, made me at ease when we were hiking in the pitch dark. Seeing sunrise over Bali was breathtaking. All accommodations were more than I could have asked for. Pick up at my home stay, healthy breakfast before hiking, water, flashlight, protein breakfast up at the summit. Thank you to Putu and Gede for being so gracious and showing me their beautiful village and country

Firstly, this trek is a lot harder than we expected! Considering it is a very popular excursion, we thought normal active people were absolutely fine to do this. Boy were we wrong! It was ok though, because we pushed ourselves through thinking of the view we were going to see. Nope, no view- just Lots of Fog! So much you couldn’t even see you were far up at all. Then we went to get some hot chocolate as it was very cold and windy. Nope-ran out. Around this time our box of breakfast came, yay food! Nope 3 slices of cold toast, a green banana and a green orange! People who came from other tours had sandwich platters! We also got the impression that the tour guides knew all along that we had no chance in seeing the sun rise. They kept mentioning August-September over and over again, so they new the season wasn’t great. Obviously they still take advantage of the tourists which is understandable but a little honesty goes a long way. Our group asked numerous times if we were likely to see the view and every time they sort of shrugged their shoulder and ignored the question. Besides this, the staff were very lovely and very helpful. They didn’t make you feel rushed to get to the top and stopped as often as you liked. On the way down, the fog started clearing away and we saw some gorgeous views, although nowhere near to what we should’ve seen at the top. A recommendation would be to offer a early morning trek during the off season when it is highly unlikely to see the sunrise. A view from the top when the fog went away would have sill been such an experience even if it wasn’t exactly at sunrise. Perhaps a hike that starts at 5.30am so it’s not too hot still when walking up? Overall we had a great experience but were a bit disappointed over a few things. Thank you.

So the views from the mt. Batur are awesome and well worth the trip but you should beware the rough path to the top. You need to be in a pretty good shape to go on the climb. I mean its doable but the guides are doing it pretty fast so to keep up you need to work for it. Sure they change groups along the way for more faster and slower climbers but still, this is not a picnic.

Also we encountered an awkward moment of to be cornered to buy over prized soda from our guide. Also beware of the hot drinks guides offers from in the top because those cost you extra from the promised lunch and the price is ridiculous.

Our guide was so fast with others in our group on our way down that me and my mom lost our group in the begin of our descent and end up coming down basically all the way the mountain on our own figuring out where to go and trying to get help from other guides and climbers.

So the trip is tough but well worth it. Just don’t depend on the guides all the way and watch out for those over prized drink traps and begging (from your own guides). Overall an average trip getting points dropped by not so well organized trip.

I was really looking forward to this trek. from reading the tour description i had a picture of how it might be and have always wanted to climb an ‘active’ volcano. It was a moderate climb up and the view was something to be admired however the tour didnt really live up to my expectations. It was crowded being a weekend and there wasnt a lot of information shared regarding the volcano itself, the area etc. I left feeling like i could have climbed just any old mountain.

I chose Bali Ventur because of the high review ratings and prompt, helpful response when you do live chat. I booked it a day before the activity and i received an email confirmation of pick up time that is 0115-0125am. The service came 12mn, but thats okay we woudnt want to miss the sunrise. We were given coffee/ tea upon arrival at Kintamani. The tour guide was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The view on top was breathtaking! Worth the trek and lack of sleep. They served breakfast on top of mt batur. Everything was fantastic except our service going back our hotel. It was terrible. We left Kintamani at around 930am since we are not going for hot spring bath, however we reached the hotel at 1240pm just because of 1 customer we send all the way in the heart of Ubud. While the rest of us are staying around kuta and legian area. It was a tiring trip, we were all tired, hungry and wasted our 2 hour drive to Ubud. If i have known i should just booked the spring bath and go back the same timing. The 10 hour activity turned out to be almost 13 hours. I paid extra dollars for the service back and forth of the hotel, if i have known your system i could have booked my own service and just choose the package from kintamani to mt batur. We are tourists and time is precious. I strongly suggest that you improve your service and cluster according to places of drop off to make the entire trip memorable.

I wanted to write about the trip to the Vulcan. So. It was actually very good. But I had the problem that I booked the trip on the day before in the evening. I think I was still before the deadline when I finally paid, but I did´t received a picking up time, so I went to bed quite early. And I thought I would have been picked up at 2am. But when I woke up the driver was already gone. That was a little bit disappointing, but it is also my own fault in a kind of way. because I send my booking quite late. The hiking was good. On the mountain the egg the Guide has given to me, hasn’t ben good anymore, and I realised too late and felt sick after that. I understand that you can’t look into eggs while boiling, so I don’t blame you for that. Also in the description I read that water is included. But for me one bottle of water wasn’t enough, it was good that I brought my own water with me. All in all I have dunked two and a half litre on that trip. Have a nice day

In spite of cloudy sky, I had a meaningful time. The guide was so friendly and helpful. He helped me a lot. Thanks a million ^^!

February 3, 2016

The view on the lake is wonderful. Everything was well organized. However, the guide we had was not very happy to be here, he did not care that much about us and that trekking’ that was a bit weird… He did not have any light so we had to light his path… On the contrary the driver was wonderful, so nice!!!!

January 2, 2016

The walk was very challenging and the weather was definitely against us. Our guide for the walks was lovely, she was so knowledgeable about the area, and was very courteous, taking care of everyone. Our driver was less impressive, left us sat in the dark for 20 minutes when we arrived with no idea what was going on. Overall a tiring but good day!
