The professional guide and driver came to pick us up at the hotel. We were slightly late but they were kind enough to wait. The drive there from ubud is a little far. Nevertheless the view was amazing when arrive there. The performance was fun and engaging. Do sit in front by arriving earlier

The location is very far away, and the traffic is bad. Might spent more time on traveling than on activities. For a good seat to watch the performance, prepare to be sun scorched for half an hour. The dance is too traditional for me. I just watched half the performance.

let me be clear – there was no fault in the organizer. they were on time and very professional. if staying in Ubud, I wouldnt recommend this – we took 2.5 hrs to reach and 2.5 more to return – it gets very taxing due to the distance. u spend around 2.5 hrs onsite. There are no prayers you can attend – its mostly just for photo ops on the view. The view is spectacular. Carry drinks, wet wipes and some snacks. we left midway through the dance as the theatre was over capacity and seriously hot. Also the dance was tooo traditional for our taste. Unless you are a serious culture and tradition buff – i wouldnt recommend it.

Our guide was very knowledgeable about the temple and the dance. We saw some mischievous monkeys at the temple who stole some tourists’ stuff and had to be bribed with food to give them back. The dance was an excellent example of Balinese culture, with the dancers and the costumes and the music made with just the voices of the men. Our only qualm was that the dance itself was a bit confusing to follow. We were all given a pamphlet with the summary of Rama and Sita’s story, but some parts weren’t mentioned in the document. There is no English translation for the dance so you really have to read on it to be able to understand what is happening.
