We reviewed a number of quad/atv bike companies in Bali and decided on Bali by Quad as they had the option of working in the rice fields, planting, ploughing, harvesting, mowing. This of course is dependent on the season (unfortunately at the time of our visit we were in between seasons).
Additionally, the tour is advertised as sustainable tourism with a percentage of the funds being put back into the local community and the tours through the villages and rice fields are organised with their agreement and respect for their environment.
We decided on the 930am pick up and were collected from our villa in Seminyak. En route the driver stopped to allow us to take photos of the beautiful scenery and we arived at Bali by Quad in Tabanan just before 11am.
We were presented with a very welcome cool refreshing drink and after the paperwork was completed we were provided riding gumboots, plastic bag inserts for the boots and helmets. They also have secure lockers where you can store any items you don’t want to take with you.
As other reviewers have mentioned, it’s recommended that you wear socks as well, as the plastic bags can get uncomfortable on bare feet. Unfortunately their size range is limited to standard sized feet only (eg size up to eu47, au12, uk12), as I’m a size 13.5, I ended up wearing my own trekking covered sandals, just be sure you keep your leg away from the hot exhaust when riding.
We were part of a group of 7 clients and after the formalities and instruction on riding the bikes, we proceeded to mount up and get ready for our journey. There are the options of manual and auto.
We started off on bitumen/cement roads riding through the village and past very beautiful scenery.The pace of the tour was good, especially for those that hadn’t ridden before. The more experienced rider may find it a little frustrating travelling at a slower pace and would probably benefit more from a private tour to be able to let loose a little and experience more challenging terrain without being encumbered with novices.
We eventually hit dirt tracks and stopped a couple of times for photo ops. Due to being in between seasons we were unable to work in the rice field, After approx 30 mins, we stopped for water, tea or coffee. Due to our visit being in between seasons, we were unable to work in the rice fields, so we walked a short way to the famer’s house where we could see how a traditional famer lives, and could ask him questions. Very interesting.
We walked back to the bikes and prepared for more off road riding. This consisted of some challenging descents and turns, riding through submerged tracks, and some steep hill climbs, riding through jungle and past terraced rice fields. Great fun. We also stopped at a hot spring and could wash our hands and faces.
After a few more photos ops, we then started our journey back to base and just as we started to get the knack of riding the quads and feeling more confident and ready for some more challenging riding, suddenly it was all over. Time went extremely quickly, eventhough we got the full 2 hour tour.
Bali by Quad does have showers available, although we only needed this to rinse our feet. Then it was time for lunch (which was very nice) to review the photos taken by the staff, that were available for purchase. The cold beer with a lovely vista over the terraced rice fields and the quietness of the area compared to the hustle and bustle of Kuta, Legian & Seminyak was a nice change.
Other reviewers have commented on feeling rushed and pressed to purchase photos, we didn’t experience this. In fact, we experienced the opposite, we had time to review all of the 300+ photos taken, on a small laptop, during lunch and those we really liked we could select for purchase. We ended up being the last to leave the restaurant where the driver was patiently waiting for us.
The staff at Bali by Quad were very professional and were always on the lookout to ensure everyone was ok and where there was hesitation by a rider at a tricky stage, the staff were happy to take the reins and navigate the quad through the tricky part on the riders behalf.
We were then driven back to our villa in Seminyak, arriving at approx 330pm.
A great fun day out in rural Bali experiencing a different slice of island life.

I went on this for 2 hours with my sister we got there and had a drink and got ready untill another couple got there, we went up to the bikes got on and off we went our bikes we got back and checked the time and it had only been 1 hour but overall they were good and I would go back again
We booked through this our hotel and being first timers, wasn’t sure what to expect. We were picked up at the hotel by our guide Made and after 1.5hours arrived at our destination.
Our itinerary included hiking (through the rice fields), rice planting and quad biking.
I must commend the staff as they were always on the lookout for us – a group of 4 adults and 2 kids(aged 5+ & 7+). The hike lasted about 1.5 hours and there were times when the guide even piggy-backed one of the kids.
The scenery was definitely beautiful and the pace was alright. While we were glad that weather wasn’t hot — the rain meant that the path can be slippery and muddy.
After the hike, we went on the quad. as our group was small, the pace was manageable and along the way we made a stop to visit a rice mill, a nice touch. It was true that one of the bikes kept starting and stopping mid-way through the ride. HOwever, we didn’t feel that it was too disruptive — in fact it gave us time to look at the scenery around.
This was followed by lunch which was reasonable.
The last activity of the day was rice planting — and that was a good experience especially for the kids to understand how rice is grown.
Overall, we had good fun and had great guides. I would recommend this for kids and beginners 🙂 it was a great experience.
My 3 late teenage sons and I ventured out to this beautiful part of Bali under one of the old volcanoes to go quad biking. We have a great time in the mud and water and were guided by the staff in a safe manor over an hour or two around some rice fields. The bikes were in reasonable nick although one of the tour group had to have the brakes adjusted during the ride. Take your old clothes and socks as the boys found the plastic bags over their bear feet in the gum boots supplied unpleasant after a few hours.
I took my 16 yr old who has never driven or ridden a motorbike and the team really looked after her for safety . Some of the hills and descents were very steep but they took great care to make us feel safe. If you are an experienced quad biker this may not excite you but for us it was great fun hacking around with enough power bits to make it fun. You get given wellies to wear with plastic bags for socks which wasn’t really an issue but if you take socks would be better ! Free lunch after was quite nice and the offer of photos for sale about 1$ per photo was ok . Overall good value when you think it includes transport of about 1.5 hrs each way. No problem with the quad bikes had fully automatic for us and ones with gears for more experienced. Overall good safe fun in some amazing paddy fields and riding through water trenches great fun really
What a lot of fun… Friendly staff, fabulous countryside and a cup of tea in the middle of the rice fields. Maybey not for the advanced Quad Bike rider, but for tourists like us it was a great way to see some of Bali up close and personal.
Not sure what to expect after the 1.5 hour ride from Seminyak however by the end of it we were having a blast. Being an absolute beginner, maneuvering the quad was quite challenging, especially the sharp turns, steep hills and unsealed roads – but the staff looked out for us (though there were only 3 bikes to watch out for). It’s a very fun and satisfying experience to be able to have driven through the rice terraces and navigate through forrest trails in a four wheeled bike. At one point my bike veered off the road (luckily a tree stopped us from tumbling) but the three guides were quick to get us back on our feet. Feeling a bit shaken after the incident we asked to sit on the back of one of the guides bikes and glad we did. After a short rest stop, you go through the more challenging part of the course – through steeper descents, mud paths and long climbs. Great for thrill seekers, especially those with biking experience. After we arrived back at the centre we were escorted to the restaurant overlooking the rice fields and had a simple yet tasty meal while looking through the photos that were taken during our ride. We thought the photos were great, no way we could have captured them ourselves and there are some great candid/ actions shots. They are burned to a disc for you to take home (25 shots were around 190,000). None of the bikes we used had any troubles at any stage unlike some other reviews and our guides were personable and friendly (we tipped but felt no pressure to). Make sure you wear thick socks (they give you gumboots to wear during the trip) and maybe a change of bottoms if they get muddy from the ride. A great experience – we loved it!
Fantastic trip for those not too familiar with quad biking. The scenery was outstanding and Wayan’s knowledge of the local area was great. This has been our best experience in Bali and worth every cent, something different to the shopping and Bintang!
Great! Traveling with 2 children 6 & 10, the team here were totally awesome, always looking out for us, great adventure, great scenery. We did the farmer package, very informative and a great experience getting in the paddy fields and appreciating what hard work goes into this amazing scenery.
We booked the afternoon before by telephone, they arrived on time and took us to the site, dropping us off at home afterwards. The meal, photos and staff all round excellent day out.
None of us had ridden before, we booked 2 tandems and as soon as I set off I was confident, the team are very safety conscious and were always keeping an eye on me and my six year old daughter. I felt very safe and looked after, but got the adrenaline rush we had all hoped for too.
If you’re an experienced quad biker id book a private package, as I’m sure being held up at times by a group would frustrate the keen for quad thrillseeker. In fact even though it was full of thrills for this family if you can afford it I have no doubt the private quad tour would be even better.
Either way highly recommend this for a terrific day out!
Die Tour war wirklich ein Erlebnis. Wir wurden von einem Chauffeur am Hotel abgeholt und 90 Minuten später waren wir mitten in den Reisfeldern. Die Tour mit den Quads war super, mitten durch die Reisfelder mit kleinen und grösseren Herausforderungen. Die Betreuer waren sehr aufmerksam und haben uns über alle fahrtechnischen Schwierigkeiten geholfen. Nach einem kleinen Mittagessen durften wir noch Reis anpflanzen und das Feld mit dem Viehkarren glätten.
Im Vergleich zu anderen Anbietern auch technisch auf dem neusten Stand, die Quads waren 1a gewartet und in einem super Zustand.
