A definite MUST if you’re visiting Bali, we had the best day…
Having travel from Seminyak which is just under an hour away we reached Ubud where we were welcomed with a refreshing drink, we were then taken on a short ride to be fitted with our life jackets & helmets, we then had a short walk then to a decent of about 150 steps which was invigorating, our guide was friendly helpful and when we reached the river our raft was waiting for us.
As this was our first white water rafting experience I arranged for a private raft for just my daughter and I and a guide most of rafts had between four to six people plus a guide. Don’t be put off if it’s just two of you because the raft is lighter, it’s easy to manoeuvre, very relaxing and not tiring at all which was surprising…
The rafting took two hours of pure fun you see beautiful scenery, luxurious hotels, breathtaking waterfalls and the fun of getting caught up in the rapids, halfway we stopped and had a drink and connected with some other holiday makers then we headed to the end where a photographer is waiting and taking endless photos that you can purchase. We had the best guide, fun, hilarious and really added to our experience…
There was a quick trip of about 50 steps, a short walk then a short drive back to the starting point where we had a shower which was lovely as it was outside and you stood on pebbles, you have an opportunity to purchase items like flip-flops and swimwear then onto lunch which was fresh with a great selection of food available in a beautiful setting, when lunch is finished you then have the opportunity to look through the photos and purchase them individually for 70,000 (£6-) or on a CD disk…
There’s no expectation to tip your guide but our driver recommended for $4 or 25,000 IDR…
I would highly recommend spend the day there as it is very reasonable and it’s so much fun…
We chose Telaga Waja rafting for a more active adventure. The guide explained safety clearly and helped throughout the ride. Booking voucher only was easy and straightforward.
My wife and myself booked the Mount Batur trekking and white water rafting at Talgarth Waja River package which was an all day affair.
The climb to the top of Mt. Batur in the early hours of the morning in complete darkness, with your guide, a torch and a sense of adventure made a great start to a new day. Seeing the sun break the sky felt like a new creation day as far as the eye could see. Ok preparation, extra clothing at top, it will feel cold at the start but as you start hiking you’ll get warm quickly but bring your extra clothing with you to the top, you’ll need it just sitting, waiting for the sun to rise, your at the very top with no protection from the wind and elements. Shoes, you’ll need good grip, lots of loose stones and rocks. Be prepared to stair climb up and up over all sorts of elements. If you have a headlamp, better to bring it. They provide torches but not very bright and also it will free up your hands. They provide water and a snack at top.
After the hike we had a great breakfast at a restaurant overlooking the valley we climbed, beautiful. Then we were off to the white water rafting which was very easy to do. Beautiful scenery through the valleys where the river went. Again enjoyed a wonderful lunch which they also provided.
Was it worth the early start and all the effort to get to the top? You bet! Excellent tour company, great service, a great way to see beautiful Bali.
