Mount Bator, also known as Mount Bator, is located in Bali, Indonesia. It is about 2 hours drive from Canggu/Seminyak and about 1 hour drive from Ubud. The region where the volcano is located is the Kintamani region. It is situated at an altitude of 5,600 feet above sea level, at an elevation of 1,717 meters. Mount Bator is an active volcano like Mount Agun. Agung’s last eruption was in 2019, and Bator’s last eruption was in 2000.

Mount Batur is a sacred stratovolcano in Balta, 1717 meters high, located in Kintamani. The Bator volcano is thought to have been more than 50,000 years old and even more than 4,000 meters high before its first eruption 29,300 years ago. This eruption caused the collapse of a magma chamber that created two concentric calderas. Today, Mount Bator is marked by a crater called a caldera.

Mount Bator is still an active volcano, but is very controlled and safe to climb. The last eruption of Mount Bator was in 2000, and you can see the vast lava fields created by the eruption. You can also explore the lava fields on foot, jeep or motorbike.

Panduan Mendaki Gunung Batur Yang Aman Untuk Pemula

Before you start your trip to Mount Bator, here are some key facts! It is important to know that there are two different routes to climb Mount Bator. A “longer” version, but less steep, takes about 1.5 hours and is a hike of 11 kilometers. And the shorter but very steep trail takes 45 minutes to an hour to reach the top and is a 7 mile hike. We have run both itineraries, a longer four-element adventure guided tour in April 2019 and a shorter version in October 2021.

Travel distance and duration: The total distance of Mount Bator is 7 kilometers for the short route and 11 kilometers for the long route. A short route will take you anywhere from 45 minutes to 1 hour. The long route will take twice as long as a short walk through the forest, while the short route starts at Pura Pasar Agung at an altitude of about 1,250 meters.

The challenge and the mountain: Many people, young and old, travel to Mount Bator. However, you have to overcome many slopes and uneven stairs. The long route is about 700 meters over 11 kilometers. The short version has a gradient of 500 meters over 7 kilometers. Climbing Mount Batur is difficult, moderate, but I wouldn’t say it can be difficult at some points. All depending on your fitness level and if you are used to traveling. However, visibility should increase as the sun rises!

The best and only way to get to the top of Mt Tor is to book a sunrise tour. You cannot do the trek to Mount Batur alone. If you want a private Mount Bator sunrise experience, including pickup from your accommodation, I recommend booking with Four Elements Adventures. They have excellent experienced guides who speak English and go the extra mile to provide you with an unforgettable Mt Bator trekking experience.

Another big plus is that they have a secret path that avoids the crowds. Trekking on Mount Bator is very popular and most guides take the regular route, so you will be walking along with others.

If you want to combine a trip to Mount Bator with a visit to the hot springs, you can also book a tour to Mount Bator and a tour to the hot springs.

The most common way to get a tour of Mount Bator is to book a tour that includes hotel pickup. Four Elements Adventure offers a tour that includes pick-up, drop-off, breakfast, lunch, drinking water and safety equipment such as beacons. This will make the whole experience a little easier as you won’t have to drive to Kintamani in the middle of the night. Trust me, after your trip you definitely want to sleep in an air-conditioned car instead of returning to a hot hotel during the day.

The best time to visit Mount Bator volcano is during the dry season. May to October, but other dry periods can be a good time. During rain it can be dangerous as landslides can form or the rocks become slippery. This also brings us to the topic of wearing appropriate shoes. But I’ll get into “What to prepare before climbing Thor” later.

All The Need To Knows For Hiking Mount Batur [guide]

When it comes to the best time to climb Mount Batur for a spectacular sunrise, you have to be lucky depending on the season. In April we had a beautiful sunny day with fog. When we went in October, it was completely clear as far as the Lombok and East Java volcanoes when there were no clouds! The best months to get low clouds are July, August and September. During the rest of the months, you should be lucky enough to get a magical blanket of low clouds that make you feel like you’re in heaven! If you are tight on your schedule, talk to your guide about the best day.

This question is quite subjective as it all depends on your fitness level and travel experience. It was interesting for us to make the birth of Mount Bator in 2019 and 2021 for comparison. Also we have developed another and shorter route in 2021. Overall, I think a trip to Mount Bator is a moderate and doable trip for anyone with some hiking experience. Of course, on the way up you are traveling in the dark, so you will need to travel with full attention and need a headlamp or flashlight.

Yes, it can be steep in some spots, and yes, your heart rate will rise. But look
