We hiked on July 15th at 3:15 am in the morning. They sell jackets if you want to buy as it gets very cold up, and they also give you stick which is very helpful for such kind of a hike.
Ketut Wajib and Made Muada were our guides. Ketut had a sprain in his ankle but he helped me throughout the hike. He even held my water bottle, my friends backpack and helped me through difficult patches of the hike. Both the guides made sure we all were together. Once we reached the top, they offered us boiled eggs and banana sandwiches. After which we went to see how they boiled the egg in the hot steam of the volcano. It was an amazing experience. They were always willing to take pictures for us.
On our way down, we lost one of our friends, because he was ahead of us , but both the guides constantly were in touch with other to find him. Of course our dear friend reached way before us. But this shows their commitment to their job and our safety.
Jero served us food while up there.
Overall we had a great experience, amazing view and definitely worth it. I recommend Jero and his team.
Me and my wife got picked up on time at our hotel at 2.30am by our driver. After a nap in the car we were ready to start the hike. When we arrived our local guide met us at the car. We were given flashlights and walking sticks, and our guide had two bottles of water which he carried.
The guide was a young kid, spoke decent English and was in good shape. We walked past many other tourists and were amongst the first people to the top.
We were given first row seats at a bench and enjoyed a good breakfast at the top. I would recommend to bring worm windproof clothes as it is quite cold there without sunlight.
After the sunrise we saw some monkeys stealing food from people, and got to feel the warm steam coming from the volcano just close by. Afterwards we actually ran down from the mountain, which was pretty fun and we didn’t have to walk in line because of the many other tourists.
It is without doubt the best experience we have had in our 14 days in Bali. I promise!
Both our driver and our guide was very professional, service oriented and friendly.
En super god oplevelse, vi blev hentet til den aftalte tid på vores hotel i Ubud. Vi fik vores private guide Katut, som var super god og meget behagelig på hele turen. Det kan helt klart anbefales, at stå tidligt op og opleve dette.
We are a family of 7 who went on the sunrise trekking on Mt. Batur. We were picked up timely and driven safely to the starting point. The 2 guides were very attentative on the hike.
Even though it was a very cloudy morning it was a god experience and a nice sunrise in glimpses.
We ended the tour in the hot springs nearby recommended by our driver. A beautiful spot.
We can definitely recommend the company.
Although getting up at 2am was a lot of hard work, the view is definitely worth it. It’s an unbelievable and amazing experience to share with friends or family. Be prepared for the walk and the weather i.e. Appropriate footwear and clothing (trainers, long bottoms, a jacket) it does get cold once you stop moving. I recommend this trip for sure!
I loved this. Have good shoes on, It can get steep and the track up is quiet rough, but I found it half the fun. About 500 people each day snake their way up the volcano by torch light, pretty to watch. Guides are great. Their are different levels to climb too, so if your not so fit you can stop at first level. There is a make shift canteen here so you can hug a hot drink while waiting for the sun rise. It felt like new years eve as the sun came over the mountain, with everyone cheering. Great atmosphere. Once the sun was up, monkeys joined us too. Best advice, have a jacket for the top it gets cold.
Me and my girlfriend booked the guided trek with Jero. We took the option for only trekking up Mt Batur without coffee plantation or hot spring. Pricing was similar to many other companies but I think we got a great deal because of the awesome guide and good breakfast provided.
Our driver was punctual to pick us and even accommodated our request to get breakfast from McDonalds along the way. (This is not recommended as you risk starting the trek late and missing the sun rise).
Jackets were not provided but could be rented at the starting point for an affordable price. Our guide, Wayan Seruni handed us water and torchlight and we started the climb at 4am sharp. The temperature at the starting point is about 15 deg C. I recommend bringing along a jacket, although there were people who could make it all the way to the summit in a singlet. As you start climbing you will heat up and I was okay with just my T shirt and shorts.
We managed to reach the summit in 1.5h, with 3 rest stops each about 10 minutes. Our guide was happy to accommodate whatever pace we wanted and helped us take photographs along the way. Once at the top, she got us mats and a whole tray of food containing the local snake fruit, timtams, grapes, oranges, in addition to the usual banana sandwich and boiled eggs. She also helped us took orders for hot drinks. The summit is extremely cold and windy and a hot drink really helps.
It was a real pity we had foggy weather and did not get a clear view of the sun rise. We did, however enjoy the process of going up and down the mountain and witnessing the wonderful camaraderie of all the mountain guides who provided great service. Wayan Seruni was an excellent guide who watched out for us at every step of the way, and held my girlfriend’s hand through the more challenging parts of the downhill trek. I strongly recommend her and this company.
If you want visit Batur make sure check weather before ahead! I did this morning hike Mt. Batur, it was rains all the way up but lucky we can see few minute of Sunrise, actually the views very nice but the weather not as good as what we wish but still okay ti visit.
The tour started at 2am (pickup) and we started ascending at 3.30am. Despite the rocky terrain up, we managed to reach the summit before the sunrise.
Made, our guide was not only funny but extremely helpful and encouraging. Without his help and the trekking sticks/poles provided by the company (these were so helpful! Many other trekkers were so envious of our sticks), we wouldn’t have made it that quickly to such a beautiful view.
Jero, our tour coordinator was prompt, friendly and helpful with his replies. He even checked in on us after our tour and ensured that we had a good time.
Overall, we had an great experience. It is definitely worth doing this activity if you’re in Bali, amateur trekker or not.
