Hiked up Batur volcano just superb experienced. Has challenges ascent and descent but still manageable. The sunrise unique and breathtaking, the guides are just excellent, it was great experienced.

If you want to do it, take easy way. Book tour in advance though online, driver will picking you up in your lobby hotel. I want would recommend a visit for sure, a must!!
We did the Mount Batur Sunrise Trekking – although we are not trekking fans we decided to try it out! We had to get up really early- like 2 a.m., and to climb up the volcano in rhe dark ( ofcourse with a local guide and flashlight 🙂 but being up there worth it every step and every drop swet… the panorama takes your breath away! And there was an unexpected bonus- a lot of monkeys came along ant stole most of people’s breakfast. So bring comfortable shoes( no flip flops) a pullover or a jacket, becomes up there is pretty cold before sun rises! And most important – to enjoy the view look at the weather forecast- we had luck and had the perfekt weather, but sometimes is cloudy and you did all for nothing. Enjoy your trekking!
Our first climb/trek and so glad we did it. The guides are great and you cannot go wrong with doing Mt Batur. The sunrise views are just magnificent. Our guide does this climb almost daily and sometimes twice! Perfect to do on a fine day. Wouldn’t be the best if wet.
Don’t leave Bali until you’ve done this. We have been coming to Bali for years and no question why we didn’t do this when younger 🙄 but most ages could handle this if physically fit.
If the weather is good, the trekking to Mount Batur for the sunrise is truly recommended! The path is not really difficult but a bite slippery so taking trekking shoes and/or walking stick can be a good idea! The views from the top are simply amazing during the sunrise! Additionally, going down the hill, you will see monkeys!
The breakfast provided by the guide is good enough to give you energies and the guide was very helpful.

The sunrise trek up Mount Batur was one of the highlights of our whole year travelling. The view is quality when you get to the top.
You do have to be in ok physical condition to complete it though. It begins to get steep towards the top.
We had a great guide who gave us a lot of food once we reached the top, and assisted us with taking photos. He knew a lot about the mountain and the area, and wanted us to have a great experience. He made sure we saw everything there was to see, from sulfur cooking, monkeys, the historical old lava areas, and the beautiful sunrise! He catered to our level of fitness, and offered us to walk a different way down the volcano so we could get more out of our experience.
This was such a stress free experience as a driver picked you up, having a guide meant we hardly had to think about where we were going (which was great at 3am!) and he was very lovely and hospitable. I would definitely recommend this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and experience. You would not regret it.
