Toya Bungkah village, at the foot of Mount Batur, offers a number of geothermal springs – a relaxing way to relax tired muscles after climbing a volcano. Springs in the area are clear and without the smell of sulfur and locals claim all kinds of healing properties from mineral-rich waters.
Water temperatures range from lukewarm to slightly hotter, although there is no hot-water pool, and most are generally warmer in the morning. Although some hot springs have the word “natural” in their names, don’t expect a natural environment, because everything here consists of tile pools.

We booked the Mount Batur sunrise trek just the day before through Mount Batur Sunrise Trekking on WhatsApp. Super easy, quick replies, fair price, and really flexible with our pick-up and drop-off points.
Our driver Wira was on time, friendly, and a great (and safe!) driver. Our guide Kedak was brilliant — so kind, energetic, and made sure everyone was comfortable. He took amazing photos and made us breakfast in a quiet spot away from the crowds, which was such a treat. With only four of us, it felt like a private tour.
Afterwards, we visited the hot springs — the warm water was great for the legs and feet! It was a bit crowded and the changing rooms were pretty basic, but that’s just the venue, not the trekking company’s fault, just something to be aware of.
Highly recommend this trek (we were very lucky with completely clear skies!). Bring good shoes with decent grip and a jumper; it gets chilly up top once you stop moving!

Our local driver Gandiva and mountain tour guide Yusdinatu were very accommodating and took into account the varying abilities of our group, the climb being challenging. I’d done the trek 13 years ago. It’s a shame 4WD vehicles and motorcycles have been allowed on the paths, still an amazing experience.
Our kindly and very helpful driver Kadek pick us up in Ubud at 2am. We drove to mount batur, had a drink at the base and then hike up to the top with our nice guide Ketur Sukaning, who explained us a lot and make cool photos. On the top we had breakfast an a fantastic view. After downhill hike Kadak brought us to the coffee and tee tasting. Even we dont drink coffee regulary it taste so good and different and i would recommend it for everyone.
All in all a must do in Ubud!
